On 2nd September 2020, the Government launched the Kickstart Scheme, a ground-breaking initiative to support 16-24 year olds into work.

Employers can offer a young person, claiming Universal Credit, a six month work placement that will be paid for by the Government. The scheme, delivered by DWP will initially be open to December 2021, with the option to extend.

The Government will pay 100% of the age related National Minimum Wage, National Insurance and pension contributions for 25 hours per week. Employers will be able to top up this wage. Additionally, the Government will also pay employers £1,500.00 towards setup costs, support and training.
