As from 1st April 2021 the national minimum wage rate for any worker aged 23 and above will change to £8.91 per hour.


Other rates for standard workers are as follows:

16-17 year olds the hourly rate is £4.62

18-20 year olds the hourly rate is £6.56

21-22 year olds the hourly rate is £8.36

23 and over the hourly rate is £8.91


'New' Apprentice Rate under 19 years old (If 19 years or over, only allowed in first year of apprenticeship) the hourly rate is £4.30


Apprentices who are 19 years or over and not in their first year of apprenticeship the rates are as follows:

18-20 years the rate is £6.56

21-22 years the rate is £8.36

23 years and over the rate is £8.91


Any apprentice who is not registered with an apprenticeship or in the interim periods between apprenticeships the rates are as follows:

16-17 years the rate is £4.62

18-20 years the rate is £6.56

21-22 years the rate is £8.36

23 years and above the rate is £8.91
