How to recognise HMRC scam emails and texts
We are seeing more and more scam emails and texts impersonating HMRC and suggesting tax rebates are available by following bogus links.
HMRC will never use texts or emails to tell you about a rebate or penalty and will never ask for personal or payment information.
Please visit this link for guidance from HMRC on how to spot fraudulent correspondence and for a current list of recent contact genuinely issued by HMRC: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/genuine-hmrc-contact-and-recognising-phishing-emails/genuine-hmrc-contact-and-recognising-phishing-emails#how-to-tell-if-an-email-is-fraudulent
Please forward suspicious text messages to 60599. Text messages will be charged at your network rate. Please forward suspicious emails to HMRC's phishing team phishing@hmrc.gsi.gov.uk
